Whitburn Academy Head Teacher Ian Adair played host to two distinguished guests from the Taipei Representative Office in the UK. Marc Jenchung Su and Peter Chia-Yen Chen were accompanied by Cllr Jim Dixon and Jean Ye on a tour of the school. During their time at Whitburn Academy the visitors were able to view the facilities available to Academy pupils as well as demonstrating their DJ skills in the school radio station.
As Chair of ‘Cultural & Economic Interchange Scotland’ Cllr Jim Dixon has experience in developing links between organisations in Scotland and the far east. On this occasion he is helping Whitburn Academy to develop links with the Taipei Municipal Zhong-Lun High School in Taiwan. The school is also known in Taipei as “The School of The Future” which focuses on Arts and Humanities, Information Technology and Sustainable Innovation.
Despite discussions being at an early stage, all parties are hopeful that both schools and their pupils will mutually benefit from a long term association and sharing of cultures and experiences.
