Victim Support Scotland
Victim Support Scotland is the lead voluntary organisation in Scotland helping people affected by crime. It provides emotional support, practical help and essential information to victims, witnesses and others affected by crime. The service is free, confidential and is provided by volunteers through a network of community based victim and youth justice services and court based witness services.
During the 2012/13 session, six of our S6 pupils, Kelsey Marshall, Nicole Jenkins, Tegan Calder, Courtney Gair, Mark Drummond and Cameron Stewart, organised the Horizon Conference with the aim of raising awareness of the needs of young victims of crime and the availiable support services for victims of crime. The conference was attended by a number of local dignitaries including the Provost and the local MSP. Also involved in the conference was the school's own Drama Group. There was also a speech by David McKenna, the CEO of Victim Support Scotland and the Keynote speech was by the Patron of Victim Support Scotland, HRH Princess Anne.
