Donation to Syrian Refugee Appeal
Whitburn Academy was very pleased to make a donation of clothing, blankets and sleeping bags to the Syrian refugee appeal on Thursday 10th September. In the photograph on this page are some of our S6 pupils looking very smart in the Academy’s current uniform of shirts, ties and blazers. The school donated a large quantity of unused polo shirts, warm sweatshirts and plimsolls from the school’s previous uniform to the collection, which was taken to a drop off point in Glasgow. From there, the items were distributed to Calais, Germany and Hungary.
Ian Adair, Rector, said, “We are happy to see the uniforms going to such a worthwhile cause. We are very proud of our school’s community spirit and sense of global citizenship.” There are plans to donate the remainder of the uniforms to two other international charities, who will greatly benefit from the school’s generosity.
