Digital Inclusion Week
On Wednesday 14th October, a group of S3 Computing Science pupils recently took part in West Lothian Council's Digital Inclusion Week. The aim of the week, which featured a number of events at various locations throughout West Lothian, was to help the local community to improve their general computing knowledge and skills to help them in their daily lives. Whitburn's local event was held on Wednesday 14th October in Whitburn Community Education Centre and included stalls from the Royal National Institute for the Blind and West Lothian Council's Education team. Felix Cave, Robbie MacMillan and Cari Renwick ran a stall to help people improve their digital communication skills. Through the course of the morning, the pupils helped people improve their email and social media skills and awareness. This included giving out leaflets they had produced themselves in class and setting up accounts on mobile phones and tablets. Overall it was a worthwhile experience for everyone involved especially the grateful members of the local community who were helped on the day.
