Stromness by S2 English Class

Over the last few weeks, Mrs MacDonald's second year English class have been studying"The Nor'-Wast Men", a short drama script by George Mackay Brown. The play opens with a poem "sung" by a group of Orkney women waiting on Stromness Street for their men to return, after a long absence, from Hudson's Bay in Canada. The script is set in the year 1820.

The class worked as three seperate groups, with each group recording themselves reciting the poem.    Once they had done this,  they used Serif Movie Plus to create a short video, adding in photographs and sound effects that were inspired by the setting of the play.   Thanks go to Mr Hawthorn, our IT/AV Technician who helped the pupils put their videos together.
