Letter from Mr Adair
Dear Parent / Carer
After almost nine years as Rector of Whitburn Academy I feel that the time is right for me to take on a new challenge, and for someone else to take over at the Academy and continue to move the school forward. To that end I have been offered, and have accepted, the position of Rector at Inverkeithing High School in Fife.
I will be moving to my new post in mid-September, but will be here for the start of term on 22 August, through to Friday 16 September. West Lothian Council will arrange for an Acting Rector to take over for a short period following my departure, and will be working to appoint a permanent successor as soon as possible after that.
I am very proud to have had the opportunity to lead Whitburn Academy since October 2007, and I feel that I am leaving the school in a positive place with high expectations, perceptions and attainment. I will take with me a wide range of memories and experiences which will stay with me for a lifetime – people, events, and lots of highs – which have made the past nine years speed by and which have been the best and most satisfying of my teaching career so far.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Whitburn Academy pupils and parents/carers, present and past, for your support and belief, your kind words when needed, and your willingness to embrace change. Your faith in me, in the school and in its staff has been a powerful factor in taking the Academy forward as far as we have.
As I will not be leaving until September I hope that I will have the opportunity to bid farewell to as many people as possible before my departure. In the future I look forward to returning occasionally to visit, and to seeing how the school and its wonderful young people are faring.
Let me say once again that I have truly enjoyed my time serving Whitburn Academy and its community. This really is a wonderful place and I will miss it – and you – very much.
Kindest regards and best wishes for the future
Rector, Whitburn Academy
