On the 24th November, Whitburn Academy was chosen to take part in a European translation competition called "Juvenes Translatores". The competition is organised by the European Commission for schools in countries that are part of the EU. On the day of the competition, we spent two hours translating a text from French into English using just a dictionary - no online resources could be used! We prepared for the competition by practising with previous years' texts which allowed us to gain insight into what the competition would be like.
Our translations have been sent to the European Commission to be looked at with all the others from across Europe - we will find out in February if one of us is the UK winner and will have the chance to attend an award ceremony in Brussels, Belgium. On croise les doigts ! (Fingers crossed!)
